After last week’s events, there has been a heightened sensitivity to racially motivated threats. In recent days, there has been a message circulating via text message and social media stating that the NAACP has received information regarding white supremacist recruiting and initiation activities targeting Black families.
The NAACP has not released any such statement, nor have we received credible information detailing these attempts. While we take all matters of racial discrimination and domestic terrorism seriously, these statements being purported as official positions on behalf of the Association are false.
We will provide an update during the upcoming All Units Call as this is the third time in recent months that this sort of message has been circulated under the NAACP name in an attempt to breed fear and chaos. In all previous instances the message has been false.
The Spring Valley NAACP Branch was mentioned in a Rockland Times article on January 14 , 2021 regarding our successful lawsuit against the East Ramapo School District.
Welcome to the Spring Valley NAACP Chapter. Stand with us in the fight for equality.
Meetings are held on the 4th Mondays of the month @ 7:00 pm at the Louis Kurtz Civic Center 9 North Main St., Spring Valley, NY.
Please see our Covid-19 tab for virtual meeting info.
All are welcome to the meetings
